Something to Take it Away

Why, oh why did I sign up for so many heavy writing courses this quarter? Oh yeah, that's right... Because I've decided that I'm destined to go through life as a successful Emmy-winning, multi-million dollar television writer. Uh-huh. Maybe I should've thought that one through a bit more...

Right now I'm trying to work through this group project due next Monday for Comparative Studies... You know, the class with Barbie? Strangely enough, Barbie has been missing since the second day of class. I haven't seen hide nor hair of the little wench since. I guess that's a good thing... I would've ended up laying the smack down on her plastic, Ken-loving butt anyway. Dropping the class was her way of saving face, if you ask me.

Anyway, about the group project. Yeah... We have to do a presentation for the whole class about this book we recently finished, "Indian Killer." It was an okay book, I guess... And the whole of my group is pretty nice, with the exception of this creepy forty-something year old man who's been adopted into the group at the last minute. But instead of doing something credible and decent as a presentation, we're going to interpret the whole book through the use of--get this--sock puppets.

What the hell?

Whose brilliant idea was it to interpret hundreds of years of Native American struggle with seven crusty, old sock puppets? Okay, so it was really Alana's idea... She sounded pretty intelligent in the beginning of our group meeting, but she totally lost me when she got to the sock puppets. I mean, she was dead serious about it, as if she'd spent the last fifteen years touring the country with her parents' puppetry guild. "I think it would be such a great idea, don't you think, guys?"

"Dude, that's awesome," one of the guys smiled from his chair. "We'll be like, 'Sesame Street,' or whatever. Only it'll be... uh... 'Indian Killer Street.' Errr... Forget that part."

Gah! Somebody needs to shoot me.

Or Alana. Whichever's easier.

Best Part of the Day: Sitting within Brian's class... Always the highlight of the week, you know?
