Live at the Source Awards

Okay, so I'm still not writing my paper. But forget about all that stuff. Right now I'm more interested in the craziness that's going on at this year's Source Awards.

I guess I can't crack too much on the Source Awards, since they are doing a lot to promote black musicians and performers. A lot of the people that I actually love to listen to and watch get ignored at the Grammys, AMAs and the Oscars, so it's kind of nice to have some recognition for the people and things that I listen to. I mean, where else are you gong to see Li'l Jon and the Eastside Boys nominated for three major awards in a row? It won't be this year's Tony Awards presentation, that's for sure.

But hey, that's not to say that the Source Awards doesn't have its problems. I know it sounds bad, but it seems as though some of the people who show up for these awards shows dont' have anything better to do but make fools of themselves. I'm not even going to go into all the Biggie/Tupac drama from a few years back... Damn, you can't even touch that stuff. But when you look back at all the commotion and drama, some of it's just plain silly. You have to laugh about it, because all the ridiculous antics aren't good for anything else.

So far, this year's presentation has been pretty subdued. My only real complaint came from a performance by Fabolous and Tamia, which wasn't bad at all... I just couldn't stand listening to my sister swoon over the guy for three minutes straight. Every freaking time he shows up on the radio or MTV, she forces everyone to sit down and listen. It doesn't matter how many times you've listened to the same damned songs, Danielle is going to punish you by singing the lyrics as loud as she can. She and her best friend go around talking about him day and night, and Danielle's got herself convinced that she's bound to marry the guy someday. It's an unhealthy obsession, I tell ya.

Mmmm... Now there's some girl with huge boobs wearing a terry cloth tank top, clapping her hands and jumping up and down in her seat. Excuse me, but what the heck are you doing running around in a tank top when you're not even going to bother wearing a bra? Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Like I said... A tame night for the Source Awards. Good night, all. Wish me luck on my paper.
