Throw Your Hands in There
There was a massive "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" marathon on Bravo Friday night (The fact that I was home on a Friday night says a lot in itself, thank you very much...), and I got all hyped up about the show and ran onto Diaryland to join just about every QE ring I could find. Luckily, there were only two, so my binge didn't really get me very far... But it's a sad, sad, thing that joining those two rings was one of the highlights of my day.
Ahh, but such is life.
Anyway, the sock puppet thing went okay, I guess... We all met up at the Student Union around 7:00 to start discussing more about the book and then begin gluing googly eyes to ratty old socks. One of the girls was just totally opposed to the whole sticking-your-hand-in-an-ugly-sock-and-embarrassing-yourself-in-front-of-the-whole-class idea, but I can't blame her... The whole thing seems just as stupid to me. So the girl just sat there and looked dissinterested as the rest of us struggled to turn gym socks into respectable Muppet material.
Maybe we were hoping for a bit too much. My puppet is ugly, and I know it.
As a matter of fact, everyone's puppet is super ugly... But I doubt if they care. It's not like we're trying to put on a stage production of "The Lion King," or anything (What's up with that new Disney DVD thing? Don't they know that the minute they put stuff like that out, people like me automatically feel compelled to buy it?), so it really shouldn't be any big deal. But then again, I am the ultra anal-rentive perfectionist, so it takes a lot to please me.
There weren't that many people in the Union on a Friday night (Seeing as how most of them had something respectful and interesting to do...), but the ones that were there kept staring at us funny. As though we were a group of retarded kids, playing around with a bunch of socks. They didn't say much though, but they did give us some peace and quiet. And free bags of popcorn.
I like being rewarded for nothing in particular.

Best Part of the Day: Lounging around the house and doing homework while thirty roofers pounded away above my head.
