Two Weeks' Notice

I quit Job #3 this afternoon.

After all the folderol and hauling over coals stopped (Sorry for the Fiona Apple reference, but I've been singing that song all weekend long), it came down to three things: First of all, I really hated Job #3. Everything from Skinny Uptight Bitch to Fat Control Freak Bitch and all the equally skinny and fat customers who gathered around the store entrance for free samples of food. I've been spoiled by almost two years of working at Job #1, where I'm practically the boss when I'm there by myself; and by Job #2, where no one gets paid enough to give a rats ass about tidiness or gushing over customers. So to come into an environment such as provided by Job #3, it was pretty rough going.

Secondly, I just couldn't keep up with the hours. Granted, I hardly worked enough hours to really earn any money each week, but trying to fit all three jobs and school into the same schedule was getting exhausting. I literally had to pencil in time to call my friends and family throughout the week. That's right: I didn't schedule time for visits or parties, but I scheduled time for talking on the phone, which was usually very brief and to the point. I guess that last point is kind of useless, because my phone conversations have almost always been direct and to the point, but that doesn't matter. The fact is, I shouldn't have to make a mark on my calendar to return calls made to me in the previous week.

Thirdly, NaNoWriMo starts in less than an hour! Woot! I know that's a lame excuse for quitting a job, but honestly, I just remembered to sign up this morning. I seriously doubt I'll ever make it to the 50,000 minimum, but it's nice to play along anyway. I barely have a story to work with... Just a bunch of ideas that have been floating around for months. I'm hoping to do something with those, or at least edit the short story I started a couple years back. We'll see what happens.

I just know I'm going to regret this.
